Lead Trimming

Lead trimming is done along helix angle, with an often form being crowning. Tooth deforms when loaded, crowning helps guide, load the force evenly on tooth width along helix angle, considerably improving drive efficiency and service life of gears.

Gear Inspection is Crucial

Since a gear is a standardized item, there are different gear-rating standards from different countries, including DIN, AGMA, JIS, CNS, etc. But to ensure that gears are produced exactly according to standard regulations, one relies on inspection equipment. We use the latest precision measuring instruments to stringently control gear quality, and have assembly done by skilled technicians, ensuring every item is ISO-approved.

Standard gear inspection regulations:

Profile inspection: Profile, also known as pressure angle, affects gear drive smoothness, quietness, strength, and efficiency.

Lead inspection: Lead, also known as helix angle, affects gear drive smoothness, durability, strength, and efficiency.

Pitch inspection: Pitch and lead affect gear drive smoothness and quietness.

To strictly control quality, BSG purchased an advanced precision gear inspector from Japan in 2006 for online measuring.

Gear-Profile Grinder

During Trimming

Profile twist may occur during lead trimming, because profile segment twists in varying degrees along helix angle during trimming. To prevent twist that compromises theoretical profile, typical or special twist-correction is a must. Such advanced technique has been widely applied to windmill gears. Profile Shifting

Profile shifting is to adjust distance between centers and enhance dedendum strength to prevent under-cut. Profile shifting includes both positive and negative types. In positive shifting, actual distance between centers is longer than the theoretical; while in negative shifting, actual distance is shorter than the theoretical.
